Focusing on community-centered sheltering, using the PACT (People and Animals in Community Together) framework as a lens for discussion, this daylong event brings together CEOs, senior leaders, emerging leaders, and changemakers to learn from real-world examples, exchange perspectives, and tap into the collective expertise of The Network.

  How do we know what our communities actually need and how do we respond- from removing barriers and using community feedback to shape strategy to expanding services in response to unmet community needs.

Through two story-driven case studies, Collin Akemoto and Kawenaonalani Correa of Hawaiian Humane Society will share the story behind Pet Kōkua, an outreach model designed around barriers to veterinary care and other resources in underserved Oʻahu communities. Meredith Jones of Operation Kindness will share how her organization is rethinking traditional service delivery to remove barriers and better connect pets and people with the resources they need.

  What organizational culture and leadership practices allow community-centered work to survive difficult decisions, competing priorities, and change?
