Beyond Assumptions: A Case Study for Engaging Underserved Communities in Veterinary Care Initiatives

November 5, 2025

1:40 pm - 2:40 pm | Savannah Ballroom, 10th Floor

This session explores how leaders can use data and community insight to reimagine access to veterinary care and strengthen organizational alignment. Through the Arizona Animal Welfare League case study, Dr. Jyothi Robertson and AAWL CEO, Alessandra Navidad, share how clarifying assumptions and listening to underserved communities guided strategic planning, culture change, and new service models.

Participants will learn how engaging promotoras—trusted community members who bridge language and cultural divides—enhanced outreach and built authentic trust. Attendees will leave with actionable strategies for integrating data and community voice into leadership decisions, creating inclusive organizational cultures, and developing sustainable programs that reflect the needs and values of the communities they serve.
