The Humane Educational Society is a private, nonprofit, open-admission animal shelter that serves Hamilton County through municipal contracts and community partnerships. Operating from a 30,000-square-foot facility built in 2020, HES cares for approximately 3,000 - 4,000 animals annually and includes a 266-kennel shelter, on-site spay/neuter clinic, animal services division, and adoption center.

The MAC C.A.R.E.S. Center was opened by McKamey Animal Center in 2024 to serve as a hub for distribution of food and supplies to pet owners at risk of losing their pets, and now distributes more than 69 tons of food each year. It is housed within a multi-agency collaborative “Impact Hub” designed to bring a myriad of essential services, including emergency housing support, human food pantry, needle exchange, mental health services and more, directly to those in need.

During the tour, we will demonstrate how our High-Quality, High-Volume Spay/Neuter (HQHVSN) clinic functions as a well-oiled machine. We will highlight how proper staff training, clear communication, and attention to detail allow us to efficiently perform approximately 32 surgeries a day using simple, standardized equipment and protocols.
