Ellen Taylor is a Certified Animal Welfare Administrator (CAWA), Certified Dialogue Education® Practitioner (CDEP), and Chief Project Officer at Charleston Animal Society, where she leads PACT SC, a statewide initiative dedicated to strengthening South Carolina’s animal shelters through collaboration, education, and strategic support.
With more than 30 years of experience in animal welfare, Ellen is known for bringing people together to solve complex challenges and improve lifesaving outcomes. She facilitates meaningful conversations that help shelter professionals collaborate more effectively, build stronger organizations, and better serve their communities.
Her leadership style is practical, people-centered, and grounded in the belief that lasting change happens through relationships. Whether facilitating strategic planning sessions, coaching leaders, or building statewide partnerships, Ellen brings authenticity, curiosity, and just the right amount of humor to every room.
Ironically, Ellen’s career in animal welfare began with a terrible pet adoption experience. Instead of walking away frustrated, she decided to help change the system from within. Today, she is committed to creating welcoming, inclusive animal shelters where people feel supported, animals receive exceptional care, and communities work together to save lives.
